We love home towns. We love when historic communities flourish. Technology has shrunk the world. It has allowed us to have food delivered to us anywhere in the world, and has put global retail online. Its great for the consumer but offers new challenges to traditional retailers and towns. All across America we've seen great communities get decimated by the convenience of Amazon and DoorDash. While a time saver for the consumer, it has put unimaginable pressure on many Historic Town's brick and mortar shop-able retail sectors. This unfortunately has lead to network effects like high vacancy rates in down towns store fronts, and a reduced tourism. Bringing outside dollars to towns like Elkhart, Bristol, Goshen, Wakarusa and Nappanee is their only chance to thrive.Â
AppCerc is focused on partnering with Communities through event sponsorships, technology sponsorships and growing local eco-systems. Our partnerships include Marketing Consulting to raise awareness to what these towns already offer, by bringing more attention to their event and community offerings and by enhancing technology driven touch points to help with future out reach and Year over Year growth.
AppCerc strives to build a High Tech Founder Led ecosystem right here in Elkhart, IN. By building in Elkhart County we want to offer options for Founders, Engineers and Designers to stay local. We are losing quality graduates from Elkhart County schools, Notre Dame, and Goshen College to Indianapolis and Chicago because of a lack of opportunity. We want to connect our local founders with our great community of local businesses, large and small, to engineer solutions for Elkhart County, in Elkhart county. It is easy to forget the size of industry in Elkhart, through world class restaurants and Manufacturing but so many of dollars end up going to Major cities instead of staying local and growing our local community. While we completely believe in our down towns, we need to create more high paying technology jobs here in Elkhart County. That money can be spent with our local businesses. Founders need to feel like they can build and grown their technology businesses in Elkhart County. This will empower their local investors to re-invest those profits back into the next Elkhart County business cohorts.
Elkhart County has a bright future, but immediately, we need to find more ways to support growth in our Town and Cities. Government, Chambers and Business groups have to make the investment of time and capital into more events and community building. We must find ways to give brand new businesses, affordable retail opportunities. We should be working with landlords and public spaces to create rotating public store fronts where founders can test brick and mortar concepts with short term leases instead of vacancies.
Finally we need a 10 and 20 year outlook that builds Technology businesses here at home. We need to build companies that build companies. We need you to be our next founder. Someone that is creating solutions for the Patricks and Lipperts of our Community. We need those who have seen success, to invest in the next round of Dreamers and give them the confidence to stay and become Hometown Heros.
